Jessica Rooks runs a thriving Elder Law and Estate Planning firm in rural Northeast Missouri. After receiving a BS in Political Science with honors from Truman State University, she went on to pursue a law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law, graduating in the top 15% of her class. While in law school, Jessica helped shape Missouri Guardianship reform Law.
Continuing her lifelong determination to chart her own course, Jessica chose to open a solo law firm after law school that focuses only on the specialty areas of Elder Law and Estate Planning. Her desire is to provide rural Missouri residents the opportunity to access high quality legal representation. Currently Jessica assists families all across the state of Missouri with their Elder Law and Estate Planning needs.
Since opening her practice in 2012, Jessica has been profiled in Missouri Lawyer's Media, and was named an Up and Coming young attorney for the Missouri Bar Weekly in 2018, and she has held numerous community seminars and information sessions on Estate and Long-Term Care Planning.
Jessica is an active member with Missouri National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Her dedication to serving on this board for several years has led her to believe that it's essential to train other attorneys to help meet the elder law legal needs of Missouri residents.
Outside of her practice, Jessica has worked extensively with local charities, was recognized as one of the the Kirksville Young Professionals Top 5 under 40 in 2023 and has served on the board of her local chapters of the Chamber of Commerce, HUD, and YMCA.
From those humble beginnings, the firm has grown into a thriving practice serving clients across the entire state of Missouri, while remaining firmly rooted in Kirksville, our only office location. Over the past two and a half years, our firm has grown substantially, more than doubled our client base, a testament to both the trust our clients place in us and the dedication of our growing team.
Today, our team includes our Senior Attorney, two additional full-time staff members and six part-time paralegals, all working together in a collaborative, client-focused environment that values professionalism, compassion, and excellence. We pride ourselves on combining the personal touch of a small-town firm with the skill and experience of a statewide practice.
As we look to the future, our goals include expanding our team with a junior attorney and opening an additional office within the next five years, continuing Jessica’s vision of broadening access to exceptional elder law and estate planning services throughout Missouri. Our growth has been driven by our shared belief that every client deserves respect, clarity, and peace of mind, and by our commitment to work-life balance and a supportive workplace where every team member contributes meaningfully to our mission.
A Personal Note From Jessica: Outside of my professional pursuits, I am a blessed wife and a lucky mother of two little boys and a sweet little girl. I met my husband, Aaron Rooks, during college, and we both loved the local community so much that we decided to make it our forever home. My sons, Ryan and Dylan, are amazing young men that keep me on my toes. Libby, our little girl, has everyone wrapped around her finger! Our family attends church at La Plata Christian Church. It is very important to us to be an active part of our church community. Finally, during any free time that may exist- we love to garden and enjoy our time outside. Thank you for reaching out to our website, I look forward to getting to meet you.
